We are campers...

We have both been keen campers all our lives, we know what is great about camping and we know what makes a not so great camping experience. Good equipment is essential and having a great place to stay is even more so. Camping in New Zealand you are spoilt for choice, from well appointed commercial holiday parks to freedom camping in remote National Parks, it is all here and we look forward to sharing our favorite camping spots with you.

For all the camping sites we recommend you stay at we have either pitched our tent there or at the very least visited.

What we look for in a camp site.

  • For towns close to dining, supplies and activities
  • Clean and sufficient bathroom facilities
  • Good camp kitchen
  • Guest laundry
  • Friendly and helpful staff
  • Noise curfew
  • Childrens play area and TV room
  • Swimming pool or water for swimming
  • BBQ facilities
  • Well spaced level sites
  • Shade trees
  • Ease of access to sites
  • Grey water disposal
  • Internet access

Typical camp ground types and what you can expect.

  • Holiday Parks - commercial well run holiday parks with good facilities offering powered and non powered sites
  • National Park sites - from basic with no facilities through to those with bathrooms having hot showers and flush toilets, some have a few powered sites but they are rare.
  • Freedom Camping - no facilities except those you bring with you, all of the motorhomes we offer are Certified Self Contained so that you have the freedom wto stay in some of these fantastic locations.
